About

Cybill Sheridan is a 40-something actress living in Los Angeles. Past her prime and working in an industry that worships youth, Cybill has the remnants of her two failed marriages all around her. Her ex-husbands, stuntman Jeff and novelist Ira, are always hanging around, sometimes sleeping on the couch. Also present are her two daughters, a grandson, and Cybill's hysterical and slightly alcoholic best friend, Maryann.

Feeling distant from her family, Cybill drags Maryann into the desert in search of spiritual insights and, receiving an urgent psychic message from the universe, rushes back just in time for the birth of her grandson.

Cybill has a date with movie star Dennis Oliver only to be lost in his shadow after the Oscars. He drops her off and asks to use her bathroom: she thinks he's trying to pull a fast one and is surprised when he excuses himself without even asking her for a night cap. He's arrested later that night for soliciting a prostitute and Cybill is tormented by the tabloids.
