Giles Gordon, his Mom and Grandpa move to the scenic paradise coastal town of Sunset Cove. But as Giles struggles to settle in to his routine and school life at Atlantis High, he quickly discovers that Sunset Cove isn't quite the paradise he envisaged. And nothing is ever quite what it seems.

As Giles pursues the attention of enigmatic Octavia Vermont, he upsets the school jock, Josh Montana, who idolizes the exceptionally vain Coach Shane. But that is the least of his problems. The school principal, Violet Profusion, is revealed to be involved with Lew Siffer, local frightening entrepreneur of questionable repute. Giles is paranoid with a distinct feeling that he is being watched.

After a failed attempt at heroism, Giles continues to investigate the anomalies of Sunset Cove. While the rest of the school is distracted by a new line of designer clothes which all believe would look very cool on hot hunks and babes at the beach, Lew Siffer concludes negotiations with Violet Profusion on a new initiative: the art of youthful rebellion.

After discovering Octavia's bizarre plans with the sinister 'Q', the school guidance counselor, Giles attempts to confide in conspiracy theorist Jet who is more interested in Beanie, having recently discovered that he has been in Atlantis High for a long time. But for how long? Which makes Jet question Beanie's true origins. Has his family always lived in Sunset Cove? And on planet earth?

Giles is thrilled to have gained some new friends at Atlantis High, regardless of their quirks, and thought that he was the one who was always socially awkward. But his insecurities and problems seem to pale in comparison to all he encounters. And his inner child gives welcome advice on all that seems so surreal. Giles focuses on the one thing on his mind, the school play: Romeo and Juliet.

Despite his success in the school play, Giles seems to have slid back to square one. Could the break up of Antonia and Antony have anything to do with this? It complicates matters when 'their' friends attempt to console the heartbroken lovers. Dorothy encounters ninja warriors as she investigates the mysteries of the Vermont family home. Lew Siffer is on red alert. As his Violet Profusion.
