Natural Gas
Exploration and Properties
by Harald Osel
Part 1 of the Natural Gas series
Natural Gas: Exploration and Properties is the 1st volume in a series of textbooks to be continued with Natural Gas: Operations and Transport (2nd volume), as well as Natural Gas: Customers and Consuming Industries (3rd volume). This series will end with a 4th volume Natural gas: Economics and Environment. The aim of this series is to provide a student with the basic tools required when following the flow of gas from the reservoir to the burner tip.
The first chapters or sections of Natural Gas: Exploration and Properties provide an overview of the market environment and the geological environment with reference to natural gas. Natural gas properties and characteristics are dealt with subsequently, while phase diagrams relating to gas reservoirs form part of an additional chapter. Geophysical- and formation evaluation methods are further described in the following sections. The text ultimately ends with an introduction to the principles relating to fluid- and gas flow, as well as to the formation testing of gas reservoirs.

Natural Gas: Consumers and Consuming Industry
A Handbook for Students of the Natural Gas Industry
by Harald Osel
Part 3 of the Natural Gas series
Natural Gas: Customers and Consuming Industries is the 3rd volume in a series of textbooks - following Natural Gas: Exploration and Properties (1st volume) as well as Natural Gas: Operations and Transport (2nd volume), which is going to be continued with Natural Gas: Economics and Environment (4th volume). The aim of this series is to provide a student with the basic technical and commercial tools required when following the flow of gas from the reservoir to the burner tip.
Volume 3 is meant to accompany the reader along the flow of gas from the point of delivery to the burner tip and concludes with the physical flow of gas at the point of consumption. This volume consists of four chapters commencing with chapter 13, which deals with basic technical aspects of gas marketing, especially gas metering, storage and distribution. Chapter 14 provides a description of the various gas markets for residential, commercial and industrial customers (including a brief description of natural gas vehicles and fuel cell technology), while concluding with an introduction to natural gas trading and hedging instruments. Chapter 15 and 16 relate to the role of natural gas in two key gas-consuming industries in connection with power generation and the use of natural gas as a feedstock for the petrochemical industry.

Part 4 of the Natural Gas series
Natural Gas: Economics and Environment is the fourth and last book in a series of textbooks that have focused on the technical and market related fundamentals of natural gas, while also taking aspects into consideration that one shared between the oil & gas industry.
Volume 4 consists of three additional chapters and commences with chapter 17 dealing with the economic modelling of a natural gas project. The economics of three models are, introduced in this chapter, i.e. (1) an upstream E&P project, (2) a LNG model and (3) a gas-to-electricity (CCGT) model. Chapter 18 describes HSEQ (health, safety, environment and control) related aspects in connection with natural gas, with a focus on environmental aspects. Chapter 19 deals with the industrial environment related to the oil and natural gas industry. A historical overview of the development of the techniques used in this industry is, provided together with a selective overview of current technological developments. Volume 4 ends with an outlook on future exploration in the quest for oil and gas that has not ended yet.
Volume 4 in hand is the last of four volumes on the various aspects of natural gas and the oil and gas industry. The aim of this study, including all of the four volumes, was to enable the reader to acquire sufficient knowledge of the fundaments of the natural gas industry in order to enable him or her to participate in a qualified decision making process.
