The Beloved Vol.1
by Osho
read by Osho
Part 1 of the Beloved series
Osho introduces the wild, dancing, sane-crazy world of the Bauls, the mystics of Bengal. With understanding, love, humor, and a touching clarity, he guides us through the songs of the Baul mystics, explaining their view of sex, their concept of the body as a temple, and their secret of surrender to the existential beloved.
"I am tremendously happy to introduce you to the world of the Bauls. I hope you will be nourished by it, enriched by it. It is a bizarre world, eccentric, insane. It has to be so, because the world of the so-called sane people is so insane that if you really want to be sane in it, you will have to be insane. You will have to choose a path of your own." (Osho)

Part 2 of the Beloved series
Ten talks based on the natural, magical wisdom inherent in the songs of the Bauls of Bengal, those "delicious madmen, mystics, fools and poets". Osho also responds to seekers' questions, and no matter what the question may be, the answers he gives always convey the trust, oneness, and love experienced by the Bauls. Osho says of the Bauls: "Theirs is the path of the dancer, the singer, and the aesthetic man."
The essence of their religion is revealed in their song: "Only the connoisseur of the flavors of love can comprehend the language of a lover's heart." These talks will introduce you to the Baul's vision of "the essential man", the god who lives within us all, and Osho's vision of the body and human consciousness.
Humanity is split. The very human mind is split because of two extremist life philosophies. Both are exaggerations, both are logical extremes. One is what people call the philosophy of 'eat, drink and be merry', the materialist standpoint that life is just an accident - it is not going anywhere. There isn't any meaning in it, no significance, no coherence. You are not preparing for something. Nothing is going to happen, so you are left in the moment; make the most of it.
Many live that way and miss much - because there is purpose, because life is not an accident, because there is a running thread in each moment of eternity, because life is an unfoldment. Something is going to happen. The future is not barren, it is going to be creative. Preparation is needed so that you can unfold, so that your seed can become manifested, so that your essence is achieved, so you can know who you are and what this existence is.
