Real Outreach

Dr. McPherson endured adversity while attending one of the top universities in the world, the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She shares part of her story, to help readers understand how her adversities have, contributed to her passion to mentor, retain, and graduate students, who face academic, financial, life, and even social issues in college. She shares practical strategies for college student administrators, faculty members, and staff to retain and graduate college students. She has also, developed a college student retention and graduation model that she calls Real Outreach. This model encourages institutional leaders, staff, and faculty members to rethink how they provide outreach so that students are, fully supported, when they endure challenges in college.
