The book tells the history of the dogs Wayne and Jeanette have had through their 50-year marriage and includes the life story of a golden retriever named Roscoe, who had a relatively normal life up to the age of nine years. Medical problems arose; it tells the story of how his devoted owners dealt with the everyday situations, spending upward of AU$30K to keep him mobile and comfortable.
