Dimgba's family was a family of talented champions with brilliant destinies. Nwuka, Dimgba's only son, had a shining star and was destined to succeed in life. His problem started with the death of his mother, Ugomma and the entrance of a stepmother, Adaugo.
Adaugo was one of those women who found it difficult to have affection for other people's children except theirs. Her hatred and jealousy led her to commit an atrocious act, even after she had been warned against it and the consequence of her action was severe.
