Cornwall – The Gem of the British Isles

Cornwall is a major holiday destination in the British Isles. Its beauty and quaintness of its villages attract thousands of visitors to its shores more than five million visitors visit this part of Britain every year. It's not only the "locals" that enjoy visiting here, but tourists from all over the world enjoy the natural beauty and antiquity of Cornwall. I often wonder if there is a place on the globe that grips my imagination more than the County of Cornwall. There is something mystical and intriguing about this beautiful gem of the British Isles. Cornwall is a mythical place, a county of legends of King Arthur and his men, wicked giants and beautiful mermaids. There are fascinating stories of pirates and smugglers landing in the dead of night, in one of the many coves under the cliffs, with forbidden goods in their boats, spreading fear among the Cornish; and the many ship wrecks along the coast, each with its own story. Mabel van Niekerk's main passion in life is travel.
